Oregon Spring Garden Tour

Two spring days of Portland-area gardens, a clematis collection, and tulip fields in Woodburn. Total drive time is about 1 hour on day one and 2 hours on day two. Bloom timing shifts year to year, so check festival dates before you go.

  1. Day 1: Southeast Portland gardens

    1. Leach Botanical Garden

    Suggested visit: About 1 hour 30 minutes
    Highlights: Aerial tree walk, native plants, and tranquil wooded trails.

  2. 2. Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden

    Suggested visit: About 1 hour 30 minutes
    Highlights: Vibrant rhododendron blooms, serene water features, and diverse birdlife.
    Lunch: a 5-minute drive to the Smile Pod food truck park, Papa Haydn, or PDX Sliders in Sellwood-Moreland.
    Drive to the next stop: about 15 minutes
  3. 3. Duniway Park Lilac Garden

    Hours: Daily, 5:00 AM to midnight (dog friendly)
    Suggested visit: About 1 hour
    Highlights: Over 125 lilac varieties, most fragrant from late April into early May.
    Drive to the hotel: about 15 minutes

    A restored 1915 schoolhouse with on-site restaurants, a soaking pool, and a movie theater.
  5. Day 2: West Linn and Woodburn

    5. Rogerson Clematis Garden

    Hours: Daily, 8:00 AM to dusk (dog friendly)
    Suggested visit: About 1 hour 30 minutes
    Highlights: One of the country's most extensive clematis collections, in a peaceful setting.
    Drive to the next stop: about 45 minutes
  6. 6. Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm

    Hours: Daily, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM during the spring Tulip Festival (dog friendly)
    Suggested visit: About 2 hours
    Highlights: Expansive tulip fields, photo opportunities, and festival activities.
    Lunch: on-site food vendors during the festival, or a meal to go from McMenamins.
    Drive back to Portland: about 1 hour 15 minutes
