Oregon Summer Gardens Tour

Two late-summer days through the Willamette Valley, from dahlia fields to display gardens and a u-pick flower farm. Total drive time is about 2 hours 40 minutes on day one and 1 hour 30 minutes on day two. Two stops are wholesale only, and one needs a phone call ahead.

  1. Day 1: Southern Willamette Valley

    1. Swan Island Dahlias

    Hours: August and September, Wednesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (dog friendly)
    Suggested visit: About 1 hour 30 minutes
    Highlights: Nearly 40 acres of dahlias in peak bloom with over 370 varieties.
    Drive to the next stop: about 10 minutes

  2. 2. Terra Nova Nurseries Display Garden

    10051 S Macksburg Rd, Canby, OR 97013
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
    Suggested visit: About 45 minutes
    Highlights: Unique perennial collections and colorful displays; wholesale purchases only.
    Lunch: stop in Silverton to dine at The Noble Fox or Oso.
    Drive to the next stop: about 45 minutes

  3. 3. The Oregon Garden

    Hours: Daily, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (dog friendly)
    Suggested visit: About 2 hours
    Highlights: Eighty acres of themed gardens, native plants, and wetlands.
    Drive to the hotel: about 1 hour

  4. 4. Check in: The Allison Inn & Spa

    Spa treatments and vineyard views, with farm-to-table dining at the on-site restaurant Jory.

  5. Day 2: Northern Willamette Valley

    Hours: July and August, Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (dogs outside fields only)
    Suggested visit: About 1 hour
    Highlights: Seasonal u-pick flowers and farm-fresh produce.
    Drive back to Portland: about 30 minutes
