About this plant
Dahlia 'Bee Happy' produces 4-inch collarette blooms with orchid-pink petals deepening to rich burgundy at their bases. A ring of smaller pink and burgundy petaloids surrounds the prominent golden central disc, creating an open, layered flower. Dark stems and foliage provide a dramatic backdrop. Blooming begins in midsummer and continues through autumn until the first frosts.
Introduced by Dutch breeder Aad Geerlings in 2005, 'Bee Happy' combines colorful flowers with a compact, upright habit. Its accessible central discs attract bees and other pollinators, making it well suited to pollinator gardens, mixed borders, cottage gardens, and containers. The colorful blooms can also be enjoyed in informal cut-flower arrangements.
Planting & care
Growing beautiful dahlias starts with thoughtful planting and care. A sunny location, well-draining soil, and consistent attention throughout the growing season help plants develop abundant flowers. Regular watering and feeding encourage healthy growth, while mulch helps conserve moisture. Removing spent flowers keeps plants blooming freely from summer into fall.
