About this plant
Anemone x lipsiensis produces soft yellow, cup-shaped flowers with rounded petals encircling a cluster of golden stamens. Blooming in early to mid spring, the blossoms rise above deeply divided, medium green foliage that forms a low, spreading carpet. Flowers open wide in sunlight and gently relax as light fades, adding subtle movement through the season.
This naturally occurring hybrid originated in central Europe from a cross between woodland anemone species. It performs beautifully in shaded borders, beneath deciduous trees, and along woodland paths. Its spreading habit allows it to weave through spring bulbs, creating natural drifts of color before summer perennials emerge.
