Iris 'Brown Lasso'

Iris 'Brown Lasso' is a border bearded iris with warm, richly contrasting flowers that open in early midseason. Golden caramel-brown standards rise above light violet falls outlined by a distinct medium-brown border, creating a crisp frame around each lower petal. Yellow beards add a bright accent at the center. Its compact stature and proportionately sized blooms give it a neat appearance, with upright, sword-shaped green foliage forming tidy fans below the flowering stems.

Introduced in 1975, 'Brown Lasso' originated with Eugene Buckles and was selected and introduced by David Niswonger. It became an exceptionally honored border bearded iris, receiving the Knowlton Medal in 1980 and the American Dykes Medal in 1981. Its compact size makes it especially useful near the front of sunny borders, along pathways, and in smaller garden spaces where the detailed flowers can be easily appreciated.
