Iris 'Champagne and Strawberries'

Iris 'Champagne and Strawberries' is a tall bearded iris with softly ruffled, romantic flowers that bloom in midseason. The standards are creamy champagne with a warm yellow cast, while the falls are washed in rosy strawberry pink that becomes richer toward the edges. Warm golden-orange beards accent the center of the flower and complement the subtle yellow tones of the standards. The gently blended coloring gives the blooms a soft watercolor quality above upright, sword-shaped green foliage.

Hybridized by Barry Blyth, 'Champagne and Strawberries' was registered in 2001 and introduced through Tempo Two in 2001/02. Its combination of creamy yellow and strawberry pink provides warmth without the intensity of stronger reds and oranges. The flowers work especially well as a transition between pale yellow, peach, pink, and rose-colored plantings, while their deeper falls provide enough contrast to remain distinct from a distance.
