About this plant
Iris 'Girl Gone Wild' is a tall bearded iris with colorful, ruffled flowers that bloom in midseason. The standards blend warm peach with golden-yellow highlights, while the creamy yellow falls are covered with prominent burgundy veining that radiates outward from the center and becomes increasingly dense toward the outer petals. A golden-yellow band frames each fall, and bright orange beards add another warm accent. The flowers have a musky fragrance. Upright, sword-shaped green foliage forms tidy fans beneath the flowering stems.
Introduced in 2013 by hybridizer Thomas Johnson through Mid-America Garden, 'Girl Gone Wild' received an American Iris Society Honorable Mention in 2015 and Award of Merit in 2019. Its intricate mix of peach, gold, cream, and burgundy makes it especially effective where the flowers can be viewed closely, while the warm overall coloring still carries well through a sunny border.
