Iris 'Home of the Blues'

Iris 'Home of the Blues' is a tall bearded iris with richly ruffled flowers that bloom in midseason. The entire flower is a clear medium blue, with the standards and falls carrying essentially the same saturated color for a beautifully unified appearance. Blue beards blend into the petals rather than creating a contrasting accent, allowing the unusually pure coloring to take center stage. The flowers have a pronounced fragrance and rise above upright, sword-shaped green foliage.

Introduced by Schreiner's Gardens in 2019, 'Home of the Blues' takes its name from the Johnny Cash song of the same name, continuing Schreiner's long association between blue irises and musical references. Its compact 32-inch stature and consistent coloring make it particularly useful for repeating through sunny borders, where several plants can create a distinct ribbon of blue without overwhelming neighboring flowers.
