Iris 'Playing Our Song'

Iris 'Playing Our Song' is a tall bearded iris with beautifully ruffled flowers that bloom in midseason. The standards are a deep mauve-pink with warmer pink coloring near their bases, while the falls carry a similar rosy mauve tone that gradually becomes paler toward the center. A soft peach wash appears around the shoulders, and fiery red beards transition to white at their tips, adding a crisp accent to the otherwise harmonious coloring. Upright, sword-shaped green foliage forms tidy fans beneath the flowering stems.

Registered in 2021 and introduced in 2022 by hybridizer Keith Keppel, 'Playing Our Song' combines closely related shades of rose, mauve, and peach into a warm, cohesive flower. Its sophisticated coloring is particularly useful for bridging pink and purple sections of a planting, while the prominent red beards provide enough contrast to give the blooms definition in sunny borders and iris beds.
