Rosa 'Auswalker' (also known as The Pilgrim) is an English climbing shrub rose bearing soft yellow, cup‑shaped blooms that gradually flatten into rosette forms. Flowers are released in flushes from late spring through fall, offering a mild tea‑and‑myrrh fragrance. Shining, dark green foliage frames each blossom, contributing to a polished appearance in garden settings.
Originating in England and introduced in 1991, this rose combines floriferous charm with climbing habit. Its blooms become creamier toward the edges as they age, and the plant fills vertical structures like trellises or arbors elegantly. Auswalker offers a reliable, aromatic display with subtle color transitions throughout the season.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Climbers bloom best when the long main canes are tied out horizontally along their support.
