About this plant
Rosa 'Be-Bop' is a shrub rose bearing clusters of single, cherry red blooms with a warm yellow eye and a faintly silvery reverse. Petals are few (typically 5-8), creating open flowers that show off prominent stamens and offer a light, occasionally noticeable fragrance. It repeats in flushes from spring into fall, keeping color in the garden for a long season.
Bred in the United States by Tom Carruth and introduced by Weeks Roses in 2003, this rose is noted for its lively, cheerful presentation and its long-lasting garden display. It is commonly planted in public and private gardens where continuous bloom is desired.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Shrub roses need only light thinning, keeping their natural full shape and repeat bloom.
