Rosa 'Daybreaker' is a floribunda rose that presents clusters of spiral-form buds opening in soft yellow tones before blending into apricot, pink, and golden hues reminiscent of early morning light. Each blossom is fully double, releasing a gentle tea fragrance as it unfurls from late spring through autumn. Glossy, dark green foliage complements the pastel shades, held on bushy, thorny stems that repeat their flowering pattern consistently.
'Daybreaker' earned a Gold Medal at the National Rose Trial Garden of Australia in 2006 and was an All-America Rose Selection winner in 2002. It is valued for its steady bloom and disease-resistant nature. It thrives from spring into autumn, often producing small sprays of five to seven blooms per stem, ideal for cutting or mass planting. Its smooth progression of color change and reliable flowering make it a cherished choice for expressive garden displays.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Floribundas bloom in generous clusters, and light shaping keeps the framework rounded and full.
