About this plant
Rosa 'DayDream' is a shrub rose that produces clusters of single to semi‑double blooms in rich mauve‑pink tones, often with magenta shading along the edges. The fragrant flowers grace the plant in recurring flushes from spring into autumn. Glossy medium‑green foliage covers its low, spreading, arching canes, maintaining a fresh, clean look throughout the season. The open bloom form and gentle scent invite pollinators to visit, while its reliable flowering habit adds continuous color to beds, borders, containers, or paths.
This rose was bred in the United States by Peter Ping Lim in 1994 and introduced commercially by Bailey Nurseries in 2004. Its resilient nature includes strong resistance to blackspot and mildew, and its compact, mound‑shaped habit suits a range of landscape uses. The consistent floral display and low‑care performance make 'DayDream' a garden favorite.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Shrub roses need only light thinning, keeping their natural full shape and repeat bloom.
