About this plant
Rosa 'Golden Celebration' is an English shrub rose that unfolds deep golden-yellow blooms which sometimes show warm apricot tones in full sun. The full, cupped blossoms release a strong, tea‑with‑fruit fragrance of wine, strawberry, and citrus notes. Flowers appear in repeated flushes from late spring into autumn, set against glossy, dark green foliage.
Bred by David Austin in the United Kingdom and introduced in 1992, 'Golden Celebration' has earned awards including the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. Its large, rich-colored flowers and powerful scent make it a favorite for display gardening, mixed beds, or where fragrance is prized in outdoor settings.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Shrub roses need only light thinning, keeping their natural full shape and repeat bloom.
