Rosa 'Lady of Megginch' is a shrub rose that opens with large, full rosettes in rich crimson tones, slowly evolving to a deep pink with silvery reverse petals. These abundant blooms appear in small clusters and emit a fruity, old‑rose fragrance with a hint of raspberry, while glossy, semi‑lustrous foliage and an upright, vigorous habit complement its continuous seasonal display.
Bred by David Austin in the United Kingdom and introduced in 2006, this English rose was named in honor of the Baroness of Megginch Castle in Scotland. It is celebrated for its repeat flowering from late spring into autumn, reliable garden performance, and richly scented blooms that uplift cutting gardens, mixed borders, or romantic cottage-style settings.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Shrub roses need only light thinning, keeping their natural full shape and repeat bloom.
