About this plant
Rosa 'Lady of Shallot' is a shrub rose featuring chalice-shaped blooms that open from rich orange-red buds into apricot-orange petals with salmon-pink edges and golden-yellow undersides. The flowers appear in small clusters from late spring through fall, emanating a warm tea fragrance with hints of spiced apple and cloves. Glossy foliage with red-bronze tones when young enhances the fragrant display, supported by a bushy form with slightly arching stems.
Bred in Great Britain, this rose has earned the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit and American Garden Rose Selections recognition. Valued for its repeat-flowering habit, elegant color transitions, and rose-scented charm, it performs beautifully in borders, mixed plantings, or as a standout in cutting gardens.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Shrub roses need only light thinning, keeping their natural full shape and repeat bloom.
