About this plant
Rosa 'Mardi Gras' is a floribunda rose with color‑blended blooms that shift across shades of orange, pink, and yellow. Flowers open from apricot‑orange buds into softly tinted petals with pink‑orange tips and yellow interiors. These medium double blossoms appear in small clusters and offer a mild to medium musk fragrance. Blooming continuously from spring through fall, its flowering pattern is reliable and abundant.
Bred in the United States in 2007, this rose was introduced commercially by Jackson & Perkins in 2008 and won the All‑America Rose Selections award that same year. 'Mardi Gras' is appreciated for its disease resistance and suitability to garden borders, beds, and cut flower use in warmer climates.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Floribundas bloom in generous clusters, and light shaping keeps the framework rounded and full.
