Rosa 'Melody Parfumée' is a grandiflora rose that begins with deep plum‑lavender buds opening into mauve blooms with silvery undertones. Its full, clustered flowers appear in waves from late spring through fall, exuding a bold, spicy‑damask fragrance with citrus hints. Shiny, dark green foliage provides a refined backdrop and maintains good disease resistance.
Introduced in France in the early 1990s and marketed in the U.S. by Bear Creek Gardens, 'Melody Parfumée' also goes by the cultivar name DORient. Its color softens to lavender as blossoms mature, making it suitable for both garden display and cutting use. Gardeners prize its aromatic blooms and elegant form.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Grandifloras carry clustered blooms on taller stems, so a sturdy, open framework pays off.
