About this plant
Rosa 'Octoberfest' is a grandiflora rose that opens with large, cluster‑flowered double blooms in autumnal shades of yellow, orange, and red with a yellow reverse. The high‑centered flowers carry a moderate, fruity fragrance and bloom in flushes throughout the season from late spring through fall. Glossy dark green foliage forms an elegant backdrop as the color tones shift with temperature and light.
Bred by Samuel Darragh McGredy IV and introduced in 1999, 'Octoberfest' is well‑known for strong disease resistance and excellent performance. Its tall, upright habit and generous flowering display make it a fine choice for beds, borders, or cut flowers.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Grandifloras carry clustered blooms on taller stems, so a sturdy, open framework pays off.
