About this plant
Rosa 'Sunsprite' is a floribunda rose that displays clusters of bright golden‑yellow, high‑centered blooms from late spring through fall. Its flowers carry a powerful, sweet fragrance that fills the garden, while the lush dark green foliage remains glossy and clean throughout the season. The color holds well even in warm weather, and the blooms often stand out dramatically against their own leaves.
Developed in Germany and introduced in 1973, 'Sunsprite' is also marketed under the names 'KORresia' and 'Friesia'. It has earned numerous awards for fragrance and resilience. Its disease resistance and robust reblooming make it a favorite for mass plantings, border accents, and fragrant cutting gardens.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Floribundas bloom in generous clusters, and light shaping keeps the framework rounded and full.
