About this plant
Rosa 'Traviata' is a hybrid tea rose offering deeply saturated red, fully double blooms with a darker reverse. The flowers open from tight buds into classic cupped, quartered forms and appear in repeat cycles from early summer through late autumn, set atop glossy, dark green foliage that remains healthy and robust.
Originating from France and introduced to U.S. gardens in 1997 via the Romantica series, 'Traviata' is praised for elegant form, consistent reblooming, and reliable disease resistance. Though its fragrance is mild, its visual presence and long vase life make it desirable for cutting gardens, focal beds, or formal rose plantings.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Long, straight stems make hybrid teas ideal for cutting, so give each plant room and airflow.
