About this plant
Rosa 'Twilight Zone' is a grandiflora rose that bursts into bloom with very double, old‑fashioned flowers in deep velvety purple through mauve tones. The blooms open from large, fat buds and carry a strong, spicy‑clove and citrus fragrance. They appear in clusters and repeat from late spring through fall, standing out against glossy dark green foliage with a semi‑gloss texture that remains clean and elegant.
Bred by Tom Carruth and introduced in 2012, its color deepens in cooler temperatures. 'Twilight Zone' is especially prized for its dramatic hue, intense scent, and suitability for cutting gardens or display plantings.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Grandifloras carry clustered blooms on taller stems, so a sturdy, open framework pays off.
