About this plant
Rosa 'Winner's Circle' is a climbing rose that produces abundant clusters of semi-double, fire-engine red blooms starting in early summer and continuing through fall. The vibrant flowers offer a light fragrance and are complemented by glossy dark green foliage that turns deep burgundy in autumn. Arching, thorny canes support the flowering trusses, while orange rose hips emerge later in the season, adding interest and charm.
Developed by William "Bill" Radler, the breeder behind the Knock Out® series, this rose was introduced in 1999. It was awarded the All-America Rose Selections in its release year for its reliability and garden performance. Valued for its non-fading color, strong disease resistance, and winter hardiness, 'Winner's Circle' excels on fences, arbors, or pergolas, offering season-long drama with minimal care.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Climbers bloom best when the long main canes are tied out horizontally along their support.
