About this plant
Clematis 'Multi Blue' produces large, complex blossoms that shift noticeably as they mature. Early flowers often appear densely double, formed from layered violet-blue tepals surrounding a pale, tufted center. As blooms age, the structure can open into semi-double or star-shaped forms, revealing slender inner petaloids in lavender, silvery blue, and soft mauve tones. Subtle color variation is common, with some flowers showing cooler blue shades and others deepening toward purple, creating a changing display across the season.
Blooming begins in late spring with repeat flowering through summer. Introduced in the Netherlands, this cultivar is well suited for trellises, obelisks, arbors, and containers, where its evolving flower forms add extended ornamental interest.
