Rosa 'Betty Prior'
Betty Prior Floribunda Rose
Rosa 'Betty Prior' is a floribunda rose that bears clusters of rose‑pink single blooms with white centers, opening from late spring through fall. The blossoms emerge in profuse waves set against matte green foliage, and the plant displays an upright, spreading habit. Its fragrance is mild and gently spicy.
Introduced in the 1930s, 'Betty Prior' remains favored for its reliability and cold hardiness. It endures summer heat and continues to bloom under stress, producing clean foliage and consistent floral displays. Its bright, airy flowering habit makes it ideal for mass plantings, borders, or accent spots in mixed gardens.
Planting & care
Roses reward a sunny, open site with at least six hours of direct light, good air movement, and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water deeply and less often, soaking the root zone while keeping the leaves dry, and mulch with two to three inches of compost or shredded bark held back from the canes. Feed repeat-blooming roses in early spring as growth starts and again after the first flush, then prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing canes and open the center. Floribundas bloom in generous clusters, and light shaping keeps the framework rounded and full.
