How to Choose
Bloom season: Sasanqua types flower in fall and early winter; japonicas carry the display from late winter into spring.
Flower form: Single, semi-double, peony and formal double forms give very different effects at the same distance.
Size and habit: Upright growers suit hedges and screens, while spreading or compact forms fit containers and smaller beds.
Site and shelter: All camellias appreciate acidic soil, good drainage and protection from harsh afternoon sun and freezing wind.
