Iris 'Bumblebee Deelite'

Iris 'Bumblebee Deelite' is a miniature tall bearded iris with petite flowers that open in early midseason. Sunny yellow standards rise above deep maroon-purple falls, where prominent white veining radiates outward from the center and creates an intricate pattern across the dark petals. A narrow yellow edge outlines each fall, echoing the upper petals, while bright orange beards provide a warm finishing accent. Slender stems carry the flowers above narrow, upright green foliage.

Introduced in 1986 by Jack and Glenda Norrick, 'Bumblebee Deelite' became a highly honored miniature tall bearded iris, receiving the Williamson-White Medal in 1993. Its compact size makes it particularly useful where taller bearded irises would feel out of scale. Plant it toward the front of sunny borders, along pathways, or in rock gardens where the detailed flowers can be appreciated at close range.
